Bruce Conroe is hitting the high notes for Alfred University! Here he plays the Van Cliburn piano at Alfred's 2017 MostArts Festival. As of 2018, the Conroe intern will be assisting Director Lisa Lantz in organizing the Festival.
Bruce Conroe graduated from Alfred University with a B.A. in mathematics, obtained a masters in education from Alfred in 1954, and his Ed.D from SUNY Albany in 1975. Bruce made a difference in students' lives as a public school math teacher and guidance counselor, and later as dean and vice provost at SUNY Potsdam.
Bruce continues his educational impact through endowments he has funded at Alfred University - one creating a scholarship and another creating an internship in performing arts management. Savvy with numbers, Bruce has also enhanced and diversified his income with a charitable gift annuity at Alfred.
Bruce's family ties to Alfred span more than a century. He grew up on Main Street in Alfred, the son of Irwin Conroe ’23 (dean of the Alfred University faculty) and Frances Barden Conroe. More than a dozen members of his family attended Alfred University.
