"The people at Alfred University made all the difference. Dean Gertz was my mentor, and I'll always be grateful for having served as a dormitory counselor under Fred's direction." – Ken Myers ’57
In fact, Dean Gertz was such a positive influence that Kenneth N. Myers ’57 graduated AU with the goal of becoming a Dean of Men. Ultimately Ken's career went in a different direction; he became a national expert in disaster contingency planning, providing advice to companies around the world including those impacted by the 2001 World Trade Center attack.
Ken's passion for higher education remained strong, however, and found expression in his and his wife Marcia's bequest for Alfred University.
